MAC spoofing/IP Spoofing - TheCl0wnhelper - Jan 22, 2013

Hey HF,

I spoofed my MAC address. However, when I did a port scan using NMAP on myself on my default gateway, it showed my actual MAC address. But when I do cmd: ipconfig /all it only shows my Spoofed MAC address. Also, When I tried spoofing my IP during the port scan, my real internal IP address showed and not the spoofed one.

What is going on, im confused.

Thanks.

Spoofed your MAC address? You know that you can simply change it in your Windows Register? What are you trying to do?

I think spoofing only works over LAN and I don't think you will need to worry much when hacking since they won't get your MAC unless they have MAX security.

Firstly, I think you're using a program to change/spoof your MAC. If so, I assume you're using 'T-MAC' (it's best in ma opinion). As, it's a very user friendly and yet detailed settings can be configured by it MANUALLY. You can use different PROFILES/ALIASES according to your IP range (if you use different IPs frequently as I used to in past ;)). Check this profile thing. You might need to ensure the IP range you spoofed, gateway and subnet mask etc. is configured CORRECTLY.
Post here if you still run into issues. It's not a big issue you got. 😊

Well if your talking simple PHP it's not hard at al, it's literally 1-3 lines of code to extract the MAC address, but it can be longer depending on functions desired. The only downfall I that the client you are grabbing the MAC address from has to be on the same Ethernet. So if your hacking into a server that's on a diffrent network you should be safe from any Php based MAC address grabbing code.

Now with javascript that's a diffrent story, I wouldn't consider that MAX security.

OP, make sure you don't accept any scripts including Java because by allowing those scripts your giving them access to execute codes that can be grabbing all types of information of your system and/or network. He'll, you could except a script and it could drop a hidden file in your system for all you know.

I recommend downloading a software called NoScript, it will automatically disable all scripts wanting to run, unless you manually allow them.
