Remember to back up your iPhone/iPad/iPod before jailbreaking it. The jailbreak can be found here, and the How to/FAQ is here

Alright sweet, now I can update my girlfriends phone to the latest jailbreak. I have a question though if anyone could answer.

When you update a jailbroken phone what is the exact process.

Would i update it like a normal iphone through itunes and then jailbreak it after the update?

Or is there a certain process I should do?

Yes you are. Go head over to evasi0n.com download the correct software for your OS and follow the on screen instructions. Just back it up in the event something goes wrong which most likely wont happen.

Go for it. A jailbroken iDevice is much better than a stock one.

Will this result in loss of data (apps, contacts, ect.)?

Sorry about the stupid questions I haven't used iOS myself since it was back in iOS 2.whatever (and never updated for that matter since i only had a ipod touch and it was back with the tether jailbreaks.)

Just update on iTunes, and then backup, And run the www.evasi0n.com jailbreak.

If your device is jailbroken and you upgrade you will lose all your jailbroken tweaks and such.
