[TuT] Enable/Disable Control Panel [TuT] - Pharaohs - Feb 5, 2013

This tweak is odd but can be extremely helpful. This will work on most school computers and can be used with my other guide.

First, launch the Local Group Policy Editor, click Start, type gpedit.msc and hit Enter.

Now navigate to the User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel option from the left sidebar. You will be able to locate the Prohibit access to the Control Panel option in the main window.

Double click it and set its value to Enabled.

That’s it, the access to the control panel will be denied. These steps are applicable in Windows Vista as well. If you want to enable the control panel back, just set the value to Not Configured or Disabled.

I don't think I have that but have local security policy which is only accessible with admin privileges

You should check it out and see if you can use it.

If only I could find out the admin password then I would be able to do this I believe.

Or you can put this in Run

reg add "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer" /t Reg_dword /v NoControlPanel /f /d 0

You can't do this if command prompt is blocked

You use run, and if run is blocked then you can't use your method either,

But to use run you download Hijack this and then use the run command from there

Or use the shortcut key
