Is Microsoft Security Essentials any good? - IndustrialDonut - Feb 23, 2013

I got it because it's free but I'm not sure weather it's even worth having...

It's not worth having, nor it shouldn't be your first choice for an antivirus software.

you can try going with Avast, works perfectly.

No it's not. People say it is, but it really isn't lol. Anyone who tells you it is, doesn't know anti-viruses unfortunately:

i don't trust websites who compared avs. if you wan't free av go with avast+ malwarebytes + virustotal uploader to check all files before install them

if you wan't paid i advice yu to try bitdefender total security 2013 is a monster + had a great features like safebox and safepay option. and this version not eat much RAM like 2012 version. + malwarebytes antimalware pro

I would only use MSE if all other anti viruses somehow disappeared. Go with avast, it's good.

yeah linux is more secured than windows. and also more fasted. but its hard to use linux if you are familliar with windows. so installing linux in a VM is a good idea to start using linux for beginners

The best anti virus simply put is the user. Use ad blocker, don't download tons of shit, and scan files you do download. Chances being if you download a FUD file the AV won't matter anyway just be smart.
