[Bloocoin] Clear Wallet, an Online BLC Wallet [Open Source!] - Daring - May 15, 2013 Another update :) 5/26: Index page changed, wallet moved to "wallet.bloo.co.in" Small, semi-irrelevant update 5/25: BLC Protocol documented, major credit to John Smith https://github.com/utterclarity/clear-wallet/wiki/BLC-Protocol Hi there Bloocoin, crypto-currency, and Python enthusiasts! Today I'm proud bring you Clear Wallet, an online Bloocoin wallet developed in Python and brought to you by Utter Clarity. Click HERE for Clear Wallet! (http://bloo.co.in) Before I begin, you can find all the necessary documentation and source HERE, on the official Github repository. When Max00355 first debuted his own "Bitcoin-esque" crypto-currency written in python, it caught my attention fairly quickly for a variety of reasons. One, it was written in python, a language I favor and have come to rely on over the past few years, and two; I would get a front row seat in watching this currency's development and growth. The one encumbrance myself and a few others faced was not being able to manage our wallets from different devices. Being an avid user of Bitcoins, I had grown accustomed to the ease of use and efficiency of BTC's most popular online wallet; Blockchain.info. As time went by, I observed members of our very own forum contributing more and more to the abundance of useful tools the BLC community has to offer. It was then that I decided to attempt an online wallet for those that could make use of the advantages it offers. I had quite a bit of trouble at first, so I contacted my good friend John Smith, an individual who has very extensive Python knowledge. I approached him and told him about the new ambitious currency that had recently emerged from Hack Forums, requesting support. Being the privacy aficionado he is, he and his "never-sign-up-to-online-forums-or-services" mindset had never heard of it. However he was happy to contribute and it is him whom I have to thank for getting our service ready for launch. Features

Looks pretty solid, but having everything in one main file is a bit messy, I'd split it up a bit more imo. * - Daring - May 16, 2013 (May 16, 2013 12:24 AM)plausibility Wrote: Good that it's open source, maybe some of the Python devs around here can hack on it. Yeah, I've always admired those who make their work opensource. Thanks for the feedback, I'll work on organizing it a bit more :) * - strongboy54 - May 16, 2013 This looks great! I wouldn't have a use for it considering I use Mohatus java client for everything. But great work! Keep it up! * - PigBacon - May 16, 2013 (May 16, 2013 12:39 AM)strongboy54 Wrote: This looks great! Much easier to ssh to my vps to use IRC than run a local client on everything, imo. * - Daring - May 16, 2013 (May 16, 2013 12:39 AM)strongboy54 Wrote: This looks great! The beauty of this is that you can mine with Mohatu's client, but still manage transactions and recover your bloostamp file online Perhaps it may assist those who mine on/frequently use a variety of different devices the most, but others can still use it to their advantage. * - feudin - May 16, 2013 why would i want to risk giving my address/pass key to somebody though? they could then just create a bloostamp and take my coins? * - Mohatu - May 16, 2013 (May 16, 2013 03:09 AM)feudin Wrote: why would i want to risk giving my address/pass key to somebody though? they could then just create a bloostamp and take my coins? Well for one, we've seen what happens to those who try that. https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=3479074 Secondly, this is open source. If you don't trust him, get the source from github and host it yourself. Great contribution! 👍 * - feudin - May 16, 2013 (May 16, 2013 03:12 AM)Mohatu Wrote: Well for one, we've seen what happens to those who try that. What happens to them? and even if i were to host it, i could then be the one who wishes to steal peoples coins. if i create 10+ bloostamps and move the coins around its gna start to get tricky. I appreciate that i sign in with my username and password on numerous sites everyday granted, but they are not sites created by some random chap on a site called 'hackforums'. online wallet is a bad idea. taking nothing away from it though looks nice, well done if you really believe blc's have value, then that is similar to me giving some random person on here my login details to my proper online banking account. really stupid * - Mohatu - May 16, 2013 (May 16, 2013 03:41 AM)feudin Wrote: What happens to them? and even if i were to host it, i could then be the one who wishes to steal peoples coins. if i create 10+ bloostamps and move the coins around its gna start to get tricky. I suggested using this for yourself, not to host it for many people. It's very simple to look through the source and see there is nothing malicious about it. Host it on your own site, use it to log in throughout the day. That way YOU know it's safe. What other people think about what you host for yourself on your own site doesn't matter. * - Daring - May 16, 2013 (May 16, 2013 04:01 AM)Mohatu Wrote: I suggested using this for yourself, not to host it for many people. You're not giving out your login details, you're logging directly into the centralized BLC server. We allow you to more easily access it from different devices. * - PigBacon - May 18, 2013 Had a look through the source some more since I had some free time today. It looks pretty cleanly managed, no garbage code stands out to me. * - Infinate - May 18, 2013 I just wanted to tell everyone to use this with caution. He is known as a shady member and doesn't have a good name around this community. * - Daring - May 18, 2013 (May 18, 2013 06:05 PM)Infinate Wrote: I just wanted to tell everyone to use this with caution. You're entitled to an opinion, but these outlandish allegations about malicious intent are plain silly. For one, it's opensource. Feel free to check every line of code, I know for a fact several members have already. I also put documentation on the git with directions on hosting your own version for those paranoid ones. Also, I encourage you to backup your absurd claims with evidence! * - PigBacon - May 25, 2013 Hey, I just noticed this and it's probably old news, but why is bloo.co.in redirecting to wallet.bloo.co.in? WHAT ARE YOU HIDING IN THERE, OLD MAN? |
