Hey, I'm curious as to why I get unlimited disk space for $5 on the shared hosting, but only 20GB disk space for $6 on the VPS?

Different services, different prices.
The Vps are not only used for hosting but mostly to run scripts and services, so the Vps disk space is not the main feature of a vps server.
And these are prices we decided.

Well I think you heard it wrong, as I tested it myself with some booters and until 10Gbps they do filter the ddos attacks as they guarantee.
