Java Idea - Java based Repo System - vitafortis - Aug 28, 2013

So I am having to use SVN for a class project, and I was just wondering has anyone considered making a repo based on Java? It shouldn't be too hard to do, so I figured it'd be a good project for practice if a group of "intermediate" level programmers wanted to tackle it. It focuses on Networking, File management, etc.

I think a simple repository would be a nice little project for a few people, you can add more features as you go, at the very least you would want some form of authentication, then you can look at having version history, upload/commit notes etc.

I want to see it at the stage where the project itself is hosted on its own software!

That was my thought. I can't do it, but I figured it's good practice for people that aren't quite "advanced" yet, and it's a good team project that teaches team work which is always nice to know. Just a thought.

This is really the kind of thing where Git fulfills all your needs ever, so there isn't much of an incentive to write a new system.
