Welcome to my short tutorial on how to instantly and securely unlock and restore access to your task manager after having it disabled by various forms of malware, spyware or rootkits.

Additional information:

You can even spread this script to your victims, to do the opposite - DISABLE THEIR TASKMANAGER.

Simply open up your .bat, edit both dword values from 0 to 1 and run the script on your bots/slaves.

Enjoy.

It's weird how you don't post if 0 = On or Off but build such a BASIC guide. It's also funny you don't just post the text sod they don't have to download your item.

Easier way IMO is to use a .REG file.
  1. Open up Notepad on your computer.

  2. Copy and paste the code below (all of it) into Notepad.
    Code
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
    "DisableTaskMgr"=dword:00

  3. Save it to your desktop as taskmanager.reg (make sure you put .reg at the end).

  4. Now look at your desktop for the taskmanager.reg file and double click on it (or 'Right Click' and select Merge).

  5. Confirm the Merge by pressing OK or YES.

  6. Done.

To disable it, just change the DWORD value to 001.

Another, possibly even easier way is to do it all through the Run command box...
  1. Open a Run box (Windows Key + R will open it for instance).

  2. Paste the code below into the Open/Run box.
    Code
    REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableTaskMgr /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

  3. Hit OK button or hit Enter on keyboard.

  4. Done.

Pretty much same thing just a bit more work and trust for a download. Either way, they all work - Just some are quicker :)
