HF Theme Issue: An actual fix for you. Updated 10-2-13 - Viral Dragon - Sep 28, 2013 HF Users, First and foremost this is NOT Connected's thread, he is onlylinking to this thread. If you feel your problem IS a DNS issue, then by all means, please do go back to his thread and switch your DNS to 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4. Second, This thread so far only includes Browsers, Chrome, Firefox, IE, Safari. And the Firewalls/AV's, ez*, Norton, Personal, Zone alarm and McAfee. This does NOT include any phones yet as I haven't found where to enable it on a iOS or Android yet. Apologies Third: IF YOU CANNOT ACCESS IT STILL, I NEED THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION SO I CAN BETTER HELP YOU: --> Browser --> Firewall/AV installed. --> Extensions/Addons installed --> OS (Windows, nix* or Mac) To determine whether or not you don't have a referrer field set, click the following link. If you get a 403 your referrers are disabled or not working correctly. If you see the link properly, it has nothing to do with your referrers and therefor this thread will do you nothing. http://x.hackforums.net/cache/themes/theme3/global.css <-- Click that and read the paragraph you just read. For a while now I've been having this issue. Much like many of you here. Now a lot of people here have tried a shit ton of things I'm sure, whether it be clicking random links, making threads, replying to threads, switching browsers etc etc. Hell even changing your DNS server. Well, it might make you feel like shit to know, that's not going to help (for the most part). After thinking about the problem for a long while I was reading one of Omni's posts where he announces some of the theme changes. That being, you can't access any of the scripts directly anymore without an HF referrer. I had forgotten that a long time ago, I had disabled my referrers. Lol. Changing your DNS will do nothing. For those of you who clicked on random links and what not, that reset your referrer field to HF so you cold access all those scripts again. Literally guys, just re-enable referrers. If you have FF and are using web developer, you can just go to "Tools -> Web Developer Extension -> Disable -> Referrers". I'm sorry to say I didn't really make some long, picture using, in depth tutorial on how to fix it, but if you have your referrers disabled you should know how to re-enable them on your own. or, use Google. Either way. This should undoubtedly, 100%, fix all issues. (Sep 28, 2013 04:53 PM)Omniscient Wrote: I got so much going on that maybe I should have mentioned this change. I forgot that some people disable referrers. Which is a bad idea obviously since many sites use referrers for hotlink protection. Update: If you are using a firewall/AV like Zone Alarm or what not, those too also interfere with your referrers. ---- IF THE BROWSER FIX DOESN'T WORK, THEN TRY THE FIREWALL/AV FIX AS WELL. Browsers (Click to View) Firewalls/AVs (Click to View) [spoiler="Temporary Fixes"]
These aretemporary fixes. If your website browsing/security is controlled by your Firewall/AV, Tell me which one it is so I can update the thread with a fix. -Viral. * - Pentatonix - Sep 28, 2013 This should work. Thanks for the share, Viral. I'll do this right now. -- Edit: What about all the members that are not using FireFox? Considering this is happening across multiple browsers. * - Viral Dragon - Sep 28, 2013 (Sep 28, 2013 03:07 PM)Pentatonix Wrote: This should work. Thanks for the share, Viral. I'll do this right now.I don't use other browsers that much, except for web development. So I wouldn't know. I did suggest using Google though. I would imagine though that the option is within the options/tools/etc portion. If you wanna reply to this thread with pictures on how to re-enable them, feel free. I'll add them to the OP as well. I've been junking crap all day, no real time to go making tutorials. -Viral. * - Yardstick - Sep 28, 2013 This is a nice method that works, very helpful. Thanks Viral! * - Im gone brah - Sep 28, 2013 I thought connected did something like this too. But thanks for sharing I guess. * - Viral Dragon - Sep 28, 2013 (Sep 28, 2013 04:19 PM)Zayne Wrote: I thought connected did something like this too. But thanks for sharing I guess. Nope. His fix is to change your DNS to Google's. Which won't work since it has nothing to do with referrers. -Viral. * - iceybunneh - Sep 28, 2013 (Sep 28, 2013 04:23 PM)Viral Dragon Wrote: Nope. I didn't think it was a network problem but no one answered my message in Connected's thread (last I checked) * - Reborn. - Sep 28, 2013 So what would I do on Chrome to fix the issue? * - Loomaanaatii - Sep 28, 2013 You should add a tutorial for chrome. Most people use that browser. * - iceybunneh - Sep 28, 2013 (Sep 28, 2013 04:45 PM)Emerald™ Wrote: You should add a tutorial for chrome. Most people use that browser. Perhaps it'll allow more people to put more stock in the fact that this is indeed the problem. Lol. I totally forgot about me disabling my referrers until I read your post again from like a week ago. -Viral. * - Staff Member - Sep 28, 2013 Thanks so much for this worked for me thanks in advance * - Douchebag # 145 - Sep 28, 2013 If I don't post here again, consider the fix to be working.
