I know when you search an ip it shows where the internet service provider is, but is it possible to find a personal address from an ip, not that I would do this but I was wondering if it's possible.

In no way is it possible to pinpoint the personal address of the router you are having. However, using a Locator (Google it) You can see where the ISP (That the person is using) is.

I believe some people have done ISP Doxing, I personally have even attempted it, tho.
I don't think the risk would be worth it.

Doxing is a technique of tracing someone or gather information about an individual using sources on the internet. Basicly, trying to retrieve your personal information from the ISP Provider.

What XenoCold said is correct.
It also involves a fair bit of SE'ing when trying to ISP Dox.
