Silk Road Seized - BTC Crashing - The Story - ShikTik - Oct 2, 2013

As I'm sure many of you know that silkroad has been seized by the FBI.

I just wanted to make this thread to let those of you that haven't checked silk today that it's shutdown so don't buy any btc or you'll probably be stuck with them.

Copy of court papers at bottom of the following page.

How he got caught: https://medium.com/p/d48995e8eb5a

Feel bad for all the vendors that had bank loot in their sr accounts because silks site didn't send the btc to the backup btc address you chose in your account on sr.

BTC are crashing.

Code
according to prosecutors, Ulbricht aided in the trafficking of controlled substances from January 2011 up until last week. Through a government investigation, authorities determined that several thousand drug dealers used Silk Road to distribute hundreds of kilograms of illegal drugs to over a hundred thousand buyers, laundering hundreds of millions of dollars in the process.

He should of protected himself much more than he did.

Damn that sucks, and $3.6 Million in bitcoins, wow. Is that even something the FBI can seize from someone?

* - gobosox - Oct 2, 2013

Not to mention, Bitcoin keeps public logs of all it's transactions. Law enforcement could find out the identities of specific bitcoin users by using sophisticated network analysis techniques to parse the transaction flow and track down individual Bitcoin users.

Was he really that much of a noob? That's so... unexpected.

Not exactly. SR used tumblers so that you couldn't tell the final address for BTC.

But he won't get much from it if convicted.

Why the case against “Dread Pirate Roberts” will fall flat.
