I got some changes to the Gaming Tab (The Gamers Zone) - NotUsingAnymore - Nov 11, 2013
As the title state, I think we need some changes to the gaming tab (Also called HF Gamers Zone)
Which changes? In the following sections:
Blizzards Battle.net
Computer and Online Gaming
FPS and Military Style Gaming
Blizzards Battle.net
I think we should remove the following sub-forums:
Diablo
Starcraft
They have little activity, it happens from time to time that they get some more posts, however most of the time they doesn’t have much activity.
Instead of having these two sub-forums then why not have it so, we can make threads in the Blizzard section? Therefore, we still have World of Warcraft sub-forum and then we can make threads about the rest of Blizzards games. We could include some prefixes, which could be:
Diablo
Starcraft
Warcraft 3
Hearthstone (A new game from Blizzard, which could have potential to be a discussed topic)
Heroes of the Storm (A new game from Blizzard, which could have potential to be a discussed topic)
We should still have World of Warcraft sub-forum because it is still being discussed enough. Maybe not the most active sub-forum but still not completely dead.
I know that the Diablo forum could get a new life when the expansion arrives but still it may not even get enough activity by then.
Computer and Online Gaming
I suggest that we remove:
Terraria (It has been closed for a long time)
Maplestory
The Elder Scrolls
Both Maplestory and The Elder Scrolls sub-forums have been relative short on activity. There are even some people, who have posted threads related to The Elder Scrolls franchise outside the sub-forum because they wanted more replies.
The threads from these three sections could be put into the Computer and Online Gaming section. Some of them could also be put into The Gamers Lounge (The Elder Scrolls – It is out on more than the PC platform)
The Habbo sub-forum is not too active neither. However, I think I am trying to get a bit too many sub-forums removed already. (I do not play Habbo so for me it is not necessary but it may be for others)
FPS and Military Style Gaming
I suggest that we should be able to make threads beneath the sub-forums like in the Computer and Online Gaming. So we would have Sub-forums but also being able to make threads as there are more FPS/Military style games out there than the ones listed, and some of them are being discussed in other sections. However, these other games does not have enough activity to have each their own sub-forum so being able to post them in the FPS sub-forum would be a good place to put them.
Maybe also change the titles to “First Person Shooter” or something like that so other games could fit into it.
Both Counter Strike and DayZ does also have little activity, yet again I may be pointing out too many sub-forums that got too little activity.
Why I think we should remove sections?
Well the Gaming tab has been divided into a bit too many sections + sub-forums in my opinion. It has lost a lot activity the last year time, which is obvious when we are looking into the different sub-forums. So making less sub-forums would make it look like there is a bit more activity.
I know there will be people who are saying that it does not hurt that we have the sections. That is of course true however why have sub-forums that are rarely used. It will be better to have less sub-forums but more Prefixes.
These are my opinions so you may think that it is not necessary to make the changes and that is actually correct, but it would be an improvement.
What are your thoughts?

I agree with all of this, nice suggestion. I think the Gaming tab is one of the most confusing, because whereas certain games could use a subform, most games are multi-platform, which creates an issue of where the subform should be, making it more cluttered and confusing.

Yea it can be confusing at times. But I am getting a bit used to it.
When I make a thread I usually look if there is a sub-forum for the game first, if not then I make the thread in the sub-forum that represent the platform. If it is a bit more general then I use the Gamers Lounge.
This suggestion is because I think we are getting less and less activity in the gaming tab which might be caused of too many sub-forums to post in. I don't know if this will help at all but it could make it look more clean, so we don't have unused (Or less used) sub-forums.
It could also be totally revamped.
Make it so there would be:
PC
Microsoft (Xbox)
Sony (PS)
Nintendo
General
Or make it genre specified with platform prefixes and a general.
But these two types wouldn't work much better than how it is now, or at least I doubt it. People are too used to how it is now.

I think this is a good suggestion, but I don't think there'd be enough activity for Hearthstone or Heroes of the Storm.

That's why they only should get prefixes. If Blizzards sub-forum got open to threads then there could be a prefix for them a long with older popular games.

I just think the gaming sections should be revamped entirely. It is just too sloppy.
What about hacking these games? Shouldn't there be a modding section for all these consoles? Or games? Or what have you? I think it should be broken down like moddinghq.com

This isn't a forum based entirely around games and modding games, though. The forum is based around Hacking and the most threads and the most subforums should be in there

Yea but well that is probably the reason why it is there.
I personally don't play WoW, but I have looked into the section from time to time and well sometime they got some good enough discussions going.
Anyway, I just hope that Omni can find some time to look at it, I am not saying he should do anything just look and see if he thinks there should be done something about the gaming tab.
I do have other things in mind that could be done with the gaming tab however I doubt that enough would like the ideas. Why? Because it would mean making an entirely new structure in there removing most sections, but that would be too big of a change at once.
Also it is nice to see that there are some people who also think there the Gaming Tab could use a little look through.

By the way it is not to rush you into doing changes. Just take your time especially if you got other things to do.
