Design Customizer - Customize the look of HF! - 1n9i9c7om - Nov 16, 2013

You can now display the old userbars in the new theme!

There are currently no known bugs. If you find one, feel free to report it. It works perfectly together with HFES at the moment (so HFES won't break HFDC and HFDC won't break HFES).

Tired of seeing the same HF design every day? You want to try something new? Or you just want to add a logo again to HF? Then the Theme Customizer is exactly what you need!

The Theme Customizer can add a custom logo, it can remove the "Welcome to HackForums.net" from the heading, it can place the current time back over the "Open Buddy List" link and it lets you chose a custom theme!

There are currently 4 themes:

Christmas (Click to View)
Red (Click to View)
Green (Click to View)
Pink (Click to View)

(Ignore the tabs. They're in 2 lines because I made Chrome smaller for these pictures)

To install this userscript in Chrome, you need the Chrome extension Tampermonkey.
To install this userscript in Firefox, you need the firefox Add-On Greasemonkey.

After you installed this userscript, go to your User CP and you'll see a new link under options called "Modify Theme".
Click it and you'll see this:
Modify Theme Page (Click to View)

Note: You must have the "Modern Purple" theme selected for this userscript. The theme switcher also works on "Modern Blue", but you won't be able to add a logo!

If you're interested, here are the four logo's I used for the screenshots.

Please keep in mind that this is the first release of this userscript. If you find any bugs or if you have any suggestions, feel free to PM me!

I hope you like this userscript, I'd love to get some feedback!

I'm glad you went through with this, Good job man.

Very nice job! I really like your work so far. Keep doing this and get better in coding userscripts.

What are the links for the logos? Can't find them.

You can use any of these or make one yourself. 😉

You don't have a red logo for the red theme? :/

Is there a way to get rid of these red outline boxes in posts, etc.?

Well... this is red: https://i.imgur.com/MQKlpvq.png 😝
Changing the text should be easy. :)
And which boxes do you mean?

By the way, thanks for advertising this userscript in your signature!

This could be difficult, because this line is 'connected' with these:

If I'd simply remove the CSS behind it, it'd look bad:

However, if you like it like that, I could add that, but otherwise it could be difficult.

This is very nice, just installed it thanks man:D

Ran across a couple issues in my first few minutes of testing:

1) There's a half-second delay for the theme to kick in due to the script being ran after the page is loaded. You can change that by adding // @run-at document-start to the metadata block. Though if you do that, it'd probably break your options page. For me that's fine for most types of scripts but not things that change the entire page like a theme changer.
2) I tried to disable the theme changer by unchecking the box in options menu and even clicking the Modify Theme button to presumably save the changes. It didn't work and the theme still changes.

With that said, your themes are sexy as hell. I have plans for HFES to do something similar that would also address the two concerns I listed above. There is a technical challenge I need to resolve first (not sure if it's possible) but if I get it then I may contact you about a collaboration if you're interested.

Looks very sexy, Nico! I like the themes a lot, and they're well made.
Good job!

* - lnvisible - Nov 18, 2013

Like Emylbus said, if you can make not it not take a second for the theme to appear that would be awesome.

I completely forgot to check if the userscript is enabled... oh well...
I fixed this, and I'll try out "@run-at document-start" tomorrow, as it's almost midnight here and I have to stand up for school in a few hours.

Thanks for your feedback. :)

I tried @rum-at document-start, it definitely works better, but there is still a small delay because it has to download the CSS files for the theme first.
Guess I'll just add the styles to the userscript. But not now as I got to go to school now... ;)
