Chrome > Firefox or Firefox > Chrome - Elite Hacker 69 - Nov 25, 2013

Please give me some reasons why I should or shouldn't be using chrome over firefox right now. Lately my mac has been shitting the bed and I'm fucking pissed because I'm trying to learn to code and it's really annoying. I'm beginning to blame chrome for being a CPU hog.

I run chrome on my mac and it doesn't slow it down or anything.

Same here.

Why not try chrome, and try Firefox, and compare the performance yourself?

firefox was a very good browser once.... when it was about 2mb in size and quick as a thunderbolt but times change and now it has a lot more and works like shit. There is only one thing good about firefox - addons. I work on qtweb and chrome.

Same here. Was a die-hard Firefox fan/user for years, and then it started getting slow, bloated, and generally anoying to use. Installed Chrome, took me forever to get used to it, and now I don't really feel the need to go back to Firefox.

Old Firefox > Chrome, but Chrome > Firefox in general for me now.

That being said, Chrome just acts much faster for me, and the developper console is pretty awesome. I'll give Firefox another try some day, but having all my data on Chrome I just can't be bothered to switch it all over again ahaha

Rather than people bickering here about which is better simply read this or alternatively read the report at the end: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/chrome-27-firefox-21-opera-next,3534-12.html

That table should be updated, we're on Internet Explorer 11 now.

OT: I personally currently use Firefox over Chrome, I find it quicker.

I used to be a heavy Firefox user from 2006 - 2010.
After I started experiencing slow load times for HF and other sites, I switched over to Chrome and never looked back since.

Firefox > Chrome ...in my opinion.

I've always loved the customization you can do with Firefox.
I never cared for speed. I was a big customization guy. I like changing themes on my iPhone, my PC, and even in web browsers. And I feel like Chrome was lacking in customization.

* - yunghollow - Nov 29, 2013

I used firefox and chrome but chrome always seemed to run a lot faster to me.

* - Esme - Dec 1, 2013

I favored Chrome over Firefox up until recently as Chrome was significantly faster on my older hardware. Once I finished my new rig I've switched over to Firefox again 👍

Firefox and its company have been incessantly fighting for online privacy, the open web, and tirading against censorship and other issues related to that. Not to mention, but you can literally customize every single part of Firefox. You can move things around, omit them if you wish, make things larger, some things smaller, even change the entire layout. Firefox is open sourced. 100% of it. There are awesome security addons, one of which is Noscript, which still has no equivalent alternative on Chrome. (NotScripts doesn't have anything on Noscript.) Let's look at Chrome. They are ran by a company which specializes in advertising, targeted ads, and has done some sketchy stuff: Censorship in China, NSA cooperation, Forced Google Plus integration. There is built in tracking software, a unique ID, which cannot be turned off, and other details like that. There is very limited customization. Sure, you can move your addon icons around, but beyond that, there isn't much. It is opensourced 90%. (Excluding the Flash Player and built in PDF reader) Google has also sought to make it impossible to install extensions outside of the Chrome Web Store. They have not implemented it yet, but there is a deadline for it. Firefox has no such plans to do so. So I like the company, the security addons, and the customization options, so my browser of choice is Firefox.

Thanks, these are the details I have been looking for for a while now. People on /g/ seem to swear by open source'd *nix as well as Firefox, but you can't really ask why over there.

Everything you said there; Fucking true!!

The whole idea behind Firefox IS Mozilla, open source, everything said above!!

Chrome>Firefox I think, but firefox is not bad...
