Changing Contest Terms - Tutelary - Dec 31, 2013 Is it allowed for a user to just change the contest terms whenever he/she feels like? For example, making the maximum posts until a reward is given from 100 to 300 as an example or extending the end date or stuff like that? * - Gary - Dec 31, 2013 I'm sure you're talking about the contest Tiszy is hosting? Most of the time if more people enter then it is extended and not everyone has seen what happened to the other thread. * - RDCA - Dec 31, 2013 This is actually a decent question, which I don't think has been answered specifically. My assumption would be no, and that people need to fulfill their contests based on their original stipulations. So long as all stipulations are met, the reward must be given. Though, that is just speculation. * - Gustav. - Dec 31, 2013 The extending of the date is allowed, not sure about the requirements. But as for extending the date, it must be publicly displayed so that the members who participated may see it. * - Tutelary - Dec 31, 2013 (Dec 31, 2013 08:50 PM)Chief Wrote: The extending of the date is allowed, not sure about the requirements. What caused me to make this thread is that OP originally had the contest end date is when it hit 100 replies. OP later edits it to 500 (or 300 if no one is responding) with no overt reasoning for doing so. So I'd thought I'd ask a general question about it. * - Fox™ - Dec 31, 2013 I don't see a problem in it. It's not breaking a rule, but you're clearly talking about Tiszy. It's his contest. * - Carl Elias - Dec 31, 2013 I agree with not changing the requirements, but I think it would be fair to allow changes to the spots available. So if more post than you thought you can extend that, but not change "must get 100 of something first" to must reach 200 of something first. I think this should be more of a ethical type rule. I just think it is wrong when people do that... -Ty * - Morchid - Dec 31, 2013 It should be fine as long as you fulfil the contest also make sure you bold any changes. If you have any other questions feel free to message me. Happy New Years! * - Tutelary - Dec 31, 2013 (Dec 31, 2013 10:31 PM)Morchid Wrote: It should be fine as long as you fulfil the contest also make sure you bold any changes. What about changing the prize amount of something like that? Surely that's not allowed? But changing some parts is alright but other parts not? * - Morchid - Dec 31, 2013 (Dec 31, 2013 10:36 PM)Tutelary Wrote: What about changing the prize amount of something like that? Thinking about it now, I don't think you should change anything at all, it will only lead to confusion. * - SkullTraill - Dec 31, 2013 I don't think it should be allowed and is raising the entrants from 100 to 500 they should consider killing themselves for being attention whores. * - thomasgreen - Dec 31, 2013 I personally think a small change should be allowed, say up to 20% of original contest terms or something to be fair. Let's say a person offers 50 dollars as a contest and for only for the first 100 people that post. Perhaps he had slightly less money than what he though or the thread was getting too little or too much attention; I don't see a HUGE problem if the money becomes 40$ or the spots change from 100 people to 80 people or 120 people. Obviously a percentage rule like this could complicated things, but I think this would be a fair way to do something. My second choice would be completely immutable requirements; everything stays the same (get all your contest terms right before posting in the giveaways). * - Neal Caffrey - Dec 31, 2013 Nothing should be allowed to change. The only reason the OP should be edited is to add winners or let people know that it's done. * - Tommy - Jan 1, 2014 It shouldn't be allowed and members should be punished for editing it. * - Robust - Jan 1, 2014 (Dec 31, 2013 08:48 PM)Tutelary Wrote: Is it allowed for a user to just change the contest terms whenever he/she feels like? He had it 100 and he would get vouches and stuff. Now you expect him to give all those prizes for under 100 posts? Usually I'd day it's not allowed but he started a kinda new contest. He mentioned he had staff permission for the first time and I think it was just a bit of a confusion. Hence forcing him to keep the contest open and do it under 100 posts when I believe the first thread wasn't entirely his fault would be a bit unfair. It's a new thread and a new thing. That's my OPINION on Tiszy's contest. Normally it shouldn't be allowed but he didn't predict this it seems. He's not fulfilling what he originally mentioned do this wouldn't be okay, it'd be against the rules and policies. Tiszy hasn't changed a prize at all, big thumbs up to him for keeping his word. He did, however, change how many posts are required before the contest closes. |
