Need a Remote Admin Tool for my own linux box (Linux-Linux) - mindsword - Feb 10, 2014 Hi! I got this new linux box, and im going away, so i need something to access it with another linux laptop. Kinda like a rat only for my own use and a friend, so theres no encryption needed, cuz i dont plan on breaking any laws. Im running lubuntu on both the station and laptop btw. My friend uses windows, is there any chance for him to get access to it? Teamviewer sucks, way limited. I need something like cybergate, like sitting infront of the host pc, the moment its powered on. You know? Thanks, Peace * - Trapcode - Feb 11, 2014 You can install xrdp for rdp access to that machine, or vnc ? Here is tut for xrdp : https://community.hpcloud.com/article/using-windows-rdp-access-your-ubuntu-instance Here is one for vnc : https://www.digitalocean.com/community/articles/how-to-setup-vnc-for-ubuntu-12 * - Ihatewindows - Feb 11, 2014 (Feb 10, 2014 11:27 PM)mindsword Wrote: Hi! Try TigerVNC, it should be preinstalled, if not it's easy to install. If you just want command line access, SSH is your answer. * - Fa-koff - Feb 11, 2014 SSH is the remote access tool of choice, it's included in nearly every *nix system I've used. (Tiny Core is one exception) * - kyko - Feb 12, 2014 SSH into it? I see no reason why you would need to have X while your away, SSH should be satisfactory. * - mindsword - Feb 12, 2014 i need a GUI, or X if thats what u mean.... im not really proleet with the command line * - Loki123 - Feb 12, 2014 I did a tutorial on X forwarding some time ago https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=2617294 * - kraxyk - Feb 12, 2014 What about a simple TeamViewer setup? * - Loki123 - Feb 12, 2014 (Feb 12, 2014 10:51 AM)kraxyk Wrote: What about a simple TeamViewer setup? Oops my fault, have you considered a vnc like others suggested? I like tightvnc myself. * - Zerxes - Feb 14, 2014 You could get him to host a secure vpn on his end and connect to it then ssh into his computer to fully control it from there. |
