A &#34;junk/close a thread&#34; report option - Roytoy - Feb 11, 2014

So there are a lot of regular members who make threads and need those threads closed after a while. An example of these threads would be something like this one. Here, you can see that OP has started a giveaway and ran out of BTC to donate, but due to people not reading the OT, the thread is still being ed over and over again, while OP can't close it.

Other threads that can be used as an example for this, are really old threads that offer hacking tools or whatever things that don't work anymore. You know, those threads where OP hasn't logged into HF for a while and/or has completely neglected his thread for whatever reason.

I suggest a report option where HF members can directly report a thread that needs to be closed or deleted on behalf of the original creators of that thread who might not be able to close/delete it themselves, instead of manually PMing the link of the thread to a staff member.

What do you guys think?

All reports are reviewed by staff, which wouldn't allow it to get abused. No staff member would delete or close a thread that doesn't deserve to be closed.

That would led to confusion. Staff aren't supposed to close members threads at request (Most times at least, there are exceptions to my knowledge). It is a perk of upgrading, and for that reason it would just led to a plethora of incorrect reports.

If a user is having that problem, he should probably ask a Staff member and explain the situation. Even then they may not do anything.

A lot of times, a user does PM a staff member to get it closed or deleted. But mostly, they don't.
I have witnessed staff members constantly asking us to PM them if we ever see a thread that needs to be closed or deleted, I'm suggesting an alternative to the PM. A report option. Even if it was only available for upgraded members. (so that it wouldn't contradict with the whole benefits to upgrading thing)

Such privileges are for upgraded members only. There may be rare instances wherein Staff attends to such requests, but by virtue of it being elusive and discouraged, it does not warrant a report option.

We ignore requests to close or junk threads by non-upgraded members. If they want that ability they have to upgrade. Staff are not going to perform upgraded member options by request.
