Simple 3D Text [Part 1] - SavageBoys - May 6, 2010 Alot of people have a hard time making 3D text, so today im going to show you just how simple it is.
First Make an empty document about this size: Spoiler (Click to View) Then go to edit>fill and choose color and change the color to Code 33Spoiler (Click to View) Now Type the text that you want to make 3D (preferably around 120-150px) make sure to use an easy to read font: Spoiler (Click to View) Ok now to give the text some style, im going to use a simple gradient: Spoiler (Click to View) Now i added a white 2px stroke to improve its visibility and make it stand out more and enabled the 33 bg we created previously: Spoiler (Click to View) (later on this also helps the colors from blending and making it hard to see the 3D effect) Now that we got the text all together, right click the text layer and select duplicate then move it beneath the original: Spoiler (Click to View) Select the copied text layer the make sure you have the "move tool" selected, now hit the left arrow key about 7 times to nudge it over: Spoiler (Click to View) Looks pretty 3D to me ay? Now if you were to take this a bit farther and implement a clipping mask effect and a shine, then throw in a reflection: Spoiler (Click to View) There are many possibility's with this effect, so try some things out for yourself and see what you can come up with :) Part 2: https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=645118 (Includes the shine, clipping mask, and reflection techniques.) * - iVintage - May 6, 2010 Thank you for the tutorial, lowering the opacity on the layer that's at the back would help it be more 3d amirite? * - SavageBoys - May 6, 2010 (May 6, 2010 01:07 PM)iVintage Wrote: Thank you for the tutorial, lowering the opacity on the layer that's at the back would help it be more 3d amirite?Somewhat but too much and it looks weird, its more based upon personal preference. * - Theundertaker - May 6, 2010 I like the type of text nice tutorial Thanks for sharing , simple but nice * - SavageBoys - May 6, 2010 (May 6, 2010 01:38 PM)Theundertaker Wrote: I like the type of text nice tutorial Thanks for sharing , simple but niceSimple was my intention, everyone knows i can do better for the more advanced users ;) * - illLusion - May 6, 2010 Made this in about 3 mins with your tutorial.
