Spam/Phishing Email from Paypal [WARNING] - Aura - Feb 13, 2014

Hey guys, Aura here with a small warning for you.

So I was checked my email today and noticed I received one from Paypal telling me to update my account information otherwise my account would be limited. What seemed fishy is that the email was apparently sent from my email address to myself. So I read the email carefully and noticed a few grammar errors/mistakes. After that, when I moved my mouse over the hover link, I noticed that the link wasn't redirecting to Paypal at all.

Just thought I would warn you guys as I don't know if it's just a publicity spam email or a phishing attempt. I'm warning you because this email went straight in my Inbox and not in my Spam folder, probably because it was apparently sent from my email address and so Gmail won't take my own email address as a spam one.

Phishing emails aren't anything new, sorry to say. And as Corso noted it seems that your email is in a scammer's database :D have fun!

There's something with phishing emails and bad grammar.. funniest shit ever

* - Aura - Feb 14, 2014

I'm just posting this as it can happen to anyone and also because its from "Paypal" and it goes straight in your Inbox, many people can fall for it, that's all.

No idea why my post was scrapped... lol. Anyway as it said, seems your Email was tagged :)

Good warning. Will probably help someone.
One tip for everyone.
PayPal never, i mean never say "dear customer" there will always be your first and last name 🤝

Notice:
-Wrong capitalization.
-Typing errors
-Copy and paste the link while there is no link to copy.

Conclusion:
Phishing mails are easy to spot if you pay close attention.

I think most of the companies will never say "Dear customer" 😝

This. The number of spelling/writing/grammar/etc. errors in this email gave it away

Dam wonder how they got your email buddy, not good! I would expect to see a lot more of these attempts in the near future, perhaps changing your email on your PayPal to a freshly made one would be better.

Good thing you have an eagle eye to spot these attempts :)

It's actually pretty easy to get my email address I guess 😝
And yeah good thing I'm a bit paranoid on the sides !

Did you ever find out where it went? Or what the website was for? If he is simply just sending people to his website there's nothing wrong with it, but if he is sending to a site that looks like PP then it needs to get reported.
