Upgrading Windows Vista to Windows 7 - Agoff - Feb 25, 2014 Hello, Currently I have Windows Vista Home Premium. I am wanting to switch to Windows 7 Ultimate x32 bit. My computer is 32 bit. I downloaded the x84 .iso . Now I have a 16 gb flash drive and have tried booting it with 2 programs, yumi and linuxdrive. Both have failed me. I am going to work with the free version of poweriso and hope that helps. Any recommendations etc? Advice. * - Dаedalus - Feb 25, 2014 I have had my fair share of installing an OS off of a USN. (Installed ubuntu like 15-20 times on my old PC. No not kidding) I once used http://www.isotousb.com/ That worked for me. Also, shove it in your PC, then boot off the USB. Although I'm sure you already knew how to do that. * - Agoff - Feb 25, 2014 "Cannot create a bootable disk" It says. I have literally given up on trying to upgrade to windows 7. * - ๖ۣۜApocalypse - Feb 25, 2014 Why don't you use the official Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool. Make sure you use an unmodified Win 7 .ISO Also change boot order on your BIOS. * - Agoff - Feb 25, 2014 (Feb 25, 2014 09:22 PM)๖ۣۜApocalypse Wrote: Why don't you use the official Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool. Yes I tried the official Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool. It said my .iso file was not valid. I downloaded my file from http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official...ads.12325/ And yes I know all about changing the boot order. * - Dаedalus - Feb 25, 2014 Hmm, ok. Try this one: http://www.linuxliveusb.com/en/download Select "ISO" when you get the program up. That should work. Also, he doesn't have to change the boot order lol, he can just select which drive to boot off of, and he can select the usb there. * - Agoff - Feb 25, 2014 (Feb 25, 2014 09:33 PM)Dаedalus Wrote: Hmm, ok. I got put to the grub and it was not allowing me to boot because it could not find (hd 0,1) after I find /boot/grub/stage1 So I am still out of luck. I do not know the problem. * - ๖ۣۜApocalypse - Feb 25, 2014 Did you verify the hashes from the .ISO ? Maybe is corrupted, I have done this many times with no problem. * - Agoff - Feb 25, 2014 (Feb 25, 2014 09:38 PM)๖ۣۜApocalypse Wrote: Did you verify the hashes from the .ISO ?I have not verified the hashes. It could be, which site do you recommend to download .iso Windows 7 Ultimate x84? EDIT: I am now booting with the official Windows 7 tool. I downloaded a new version. Thanks! * - Aura - Feb 26, 2014 (Feb 25, 2014 09:38 PM)๖ۣۜApocalypse Wrote: Did you verify the hashes from the .ISO ? I doubt the .iso from Windows7Forums are corrupted to be honest. These are the official Windows 7 .iso provided by Microsoft and this thread have been up for a long time now. Also Agoff, where did you download the Windows 7 DVD/USB Download Tool the first time ? * - EthanX - Feb 26, 2014 Do you still need help with this? I know 3 programs that work, I've made tons of bootable flash drives. pm me if you need help. * - Agoff - Feb 26, 2014 Fixed thank you. (Closed Now). Thanks Aura |
