Graphic "Designers" Sloppy? - Toweliee - Feb 27, 2014 Hello Hackforums I am Toweliee, I do basic graphic designs I am not a superior graphic designer nor would I consider myself as a good graphic designer. It's more of a bored free time work for me. What I wanted to talk about is the current state of the graphic part on this forum. I was browsing through all these sub-forums and it was horrible. When I used to actually hang out on hackforums, people were amazing, I mean everything was done from scratch it was like deviantart was brought into hackforums. Now most of the graphics are rip-off and just horrible. Oh and I am not judging or blaming anyone. /Discuss * - spidermat1 - Feb 27, 2014 I think the same exact thing everyday when I see people make GFX that are terrible. GFX is a Art, not something you just do in 2 minutes. * - Bad Meets Evil - Feb 27, 2014 Yeah it's in a pretty bad state. I do my best to try and whip people into shape. * - +Aether - Feb 27, 2014 Well it is a hacking forum, so you shouldn't really be expecting a lot of nice graphics work from the designers here. But yeah, most designers on hackforums are either terrible or they just rip other people's designs. Or both :P * - Tokyo - Feb 27, 2014 (Feb 27, 2014 06:06 PM)spidermat1 Wrote: I think the same exact thing everyday when I see people make GFX that are terrible. Don't think of it as making "graphics" but more of "art". 🤩 * - Acid409 - Feb 28, 2014 I am about the same level as you op. I just do a little and practice in my free time. I agree with you when you say that though. It is kind of bad on here. That's why whenever I was trying to get a picture, I was sent a pm and redirected to another site. I know a few good GFX designers on here. Best I have seen personally is Starski. * - Rаin - Feb 28, 2014 I don't even mind people being sloppy, as long as they know their place. What grinds my gears is when people think putting on a sophisticated sentence structure and proper grammar somehow makes them more superior and more "professional". There's also nothing worse than someone claims to be going for a minimalistic looks yet it's obvious they haven't taken proportion, composition, colour schemes and spacing into consideration. Claiming minimalism when content boxes are misaligned, where logo's don't fit with the pieces composition whatsoever and the text is all out of proportion. Argh, it drives me nuts. My final pet peeve is people who seen this tutorial, copy it's concepts and techniques to a tee, then call themselves illustrators. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdJ9ei9an1M. Look familiar? * - Saint - Feb 28, 2014 Yea, real graphics can not really be found here anymore.. * - Mr. RawrGasm - Feb 28, 2014 The greatest piece of art I've ever seen on the forums was a dragon in a dungeon done in C4D it looked really realistic, but this was 3+ years ago when I first started here. I believe the best illustrators on the forums are Baghead and Inkheart, their style is captivating and unique. * - TwigX - Feb 28, 2014 This is my own personal opinion but I think that there are 3 different sectors on here. People doing GFX, editing stock images creating BGs and the typical forum sig like the ones graphics you used to see on gangparadise a while ago. Then you have the people taking on the minimalistic creating everything from sigs to UIs. I personally love this group as some of the products are brilliant extremely creative while keeping it minimalistic. Then you have the bespoke people who really have talent and do there own thing which isn't just an adaptation of a tutorial. The main problem for me on this website is people who call themselves a GFX artist or Graphic Designer when they are really just a hobbyist. |
