Simple text effect, clipping an image to a piece of text [TUT] - Peaky Blinders - Apr 3, 2014

In this tutorial I will show you how to clip an image to a piece of text to give it a nice look. This is very straightforward.

CREATION

1) Firstly, open up Photoshop and create a new document. Once that is done, add your text.

2) Next, choose the image you want to be clipped and then, on a new layer ABOVE the text layer, paste the image. Once that is done, hold down the ALT key on your keyboard and click the line between the two layers (I have marked this out in blue in the below spoiler).

3) After that, feel free to move the image around so it looks good in your text! Below is my end result.

I also added blending options which include Stroke and Inner Shadow to give it a bit more oomph.

I hope you enjoyed this very short tutorial. I only did it to show a good effective text effect. Remember, you can always make it pop by adding blending options and more effects to it!

True, but my way also demonstrates what it actually does to the layers to make people learn more!
