Cartoon Network Rank #1 in Quarterly Rankings for Key Demographics
This quarter Cartoon Network raked in the awards for quarterly demographics for males and boys alike. Adult Swim in particular had the second most watched first quarter in its history among adults 18-34, so a round of applauds to them. They were also the #1 network for adults 18-34 and 18-49 and for men aged 18-34 and 18-49 in a total day.
Most of this is due to their success of airing new episode premiers of Space Dandy which grew average delivery ranging between 2% and 17% and new episodes of Bleach also grew 2% and 5% in March. Blue Exorcist also grew in numbers from last year along with Black Lagoon who grew by almost double.
Altogether Cartoon Network ranked #1 among boy aged 9-14 during early primetime of 7PM - 9PM and was the #1 television network among boys 6-11 and 9-14 on Monday nights in march. All in all its been a great success to Cartoon Network.
Each Episode of Akuma no Riddle (Riddle Story of the Devil) to have its own Ending Song
Each episode of Akuma no Riddle is set to have its own ending song for each character and all 12 songs will be shipped in 3 mini-albums from May 14th, June 11th and July 9th respectively. The first two albums will include five character songs along with five instrumentals and the final CD will include four more character songs and four more instrumentals.
The first ending was performed by Ayaka Suwa as the character Tokaku Azuma which was titled "Parasdox" and Hisako Kanemoto as Haru Ichinose will perform the second ending theme titled "Kinō, Kyō, Ashita" (Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow). Here's a list of all voice actresses who will perform the different endings:
- Yoshino Nanjou
Azumi Asakura
Fumiko Uchimura
Mami Uchida
Sachika Misawa
Yuka Ōtsubo
Miho Arakawa
Haruka Yoshimura
Chika Anzai
Manami Numakura
Yuki Yamada
Voice actress Maaya Uchida performs the anime's opening theme song "Sōshō Innocence" (Injury Innocence). For those interested in the anime, here's a short synopsis by MyAnimeList:
- "The story is set at Myoujou Academy, a private girls' boarding school. The 10th year's Kurogumi class has 12 assassins with their sights on one target, Haru Ichinose. Tokaku Azuma is a recent transfer student who is also targeting Ichinose, but she gradually develops feelings for Ichinose."
Japanese Music Label 'Flying Dog' to Host a Song Contest
Flying Dog is to hold its first ever anime song singer contest to find a "young vocalist", unfortunately it is looking for a female talent, so sorry guys, put those mix tapes away!
The label has worked with popular music artists such as Akino Arai, Ali Project, Maaya Sakamoto, FictionJunction, May'n, Haruka Chisuga, Yuuka Nanri, Iori Nomizu, and Aoi Yūki.
The singer must be under 25 and audition before June 30th and can be a professional or an amateur singer, so look forward to seeing many videos on Nico Nico showcasing their talent. Bands may also try out with both male and female players but ultimately the singer must be female. Entries need to include a head photo and a body photo and at least two or more audio or video demo's of the contestant singing their favourite songs. The winner will make their CD debut next year.
Soul Eater Not Promo Video Introduce Cast
This one I'm sure eiqhtwork will be excited for! On Media Factory's official Youtube channel a promotional video has been uploaded for the Soul Eater Not! anime. The video introduces the three main characters and their voice cast:
School Milk Banned from City
A Japanese city has gone to the great lengths of abolishing school milks as it "destroys the Japanese Culinary culture" and "doesn't go well with rice." A bold move from the Mayor of the Niigata prefecture city of Sanjo. When argued by parents and careers who are confused, the mayor responded with:
- "Do you ordinarily drink milk when eating a Japanese style meal? You don’t drink it then, do you?
School lunches are dietary education. It is very important use the culture of a meal provided as a school lunch to make children understand this."
After a three month trial period the completion of abolishing milk from the city has been confirmed and since has been removed from April onwards. There has been no comment on what nutritional considerations were taken into account. Coincidentally, Sanjo also happens to be a major rice producer and has shifted all elementary and middle schools to rice based meals 6 months ago.
Many are arguing the decision and are baffled as milk if often used as a necessary nutrition for growing kids and with no current replacement for the needed calcium, Sanjo has come under fire by many of the public.

I hate Cartoon Network,
WOW, abolishing milk coz it doesn't go well with rice and destroys the Japanese Culinary culture.
How does a poor milk destroys the Japanese Culinary culture.
Better idea those schools should start using beer, it works better than milk and goes well with rice. "Drink beer save the Japanese Culinary culture."
Added GJ-BU and GJ-BU to my plan to watch list.
Looking Forward to read the next edition.

Sad that you think that way. I think it did a lot for the Anime community in the United States. Introduced anime to many people who would not really know what it is I think. First anime I ever watched was on Cartoon Network. It's also a way to support the industry, although not the Japanese industry directly but still.

Finally, something in AA that isn't a recommendation thread; nice revival dude. If I get some free time I might be able to design some simple headers.
