Need help with illustrator pen tool - Dmitriy - Apr 8, 2014
I am taking a illustrator class in college and this pen tool is so confusing, I have figures that need to be traced and no instructions.
The problem is that I have right now is that for some reason the pen tool creates weird shapes by covering the design when dragging instead of just a line. Because of that, I cannot see the design, it wasn't like that before, it was just individual lines.
I got adobe Illustrator CS5 on mac.

Where it has the black square, click on it and change to something like this

Thanks man that worked! It no longer fills with colors just what I needed.

You can also just turn down the opacity of the layer so you can see what the fill will look like but can also see a bit of what is below it.
