How to Compile OmniCoind - xhflhkeuhwguu34 - Apr 10, 2014

Incomplete. I'm fixing it.
A lot of people keep asking me for help with this, so I thought I'd create this. Thanks to Doctor Blue for helping me figure this out 😝

1) Install Git We'll be using Git to download the source code.
Code
# unjunked version of linux's post, possibly works
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install build-essential libglib2.0-dev libglibmm-2.4-dev libboost-all-dev libdb++-dev autoconf automake ncurses-dev git ca-certificates libdb++-dev

2) Clone (aka download) OmniCoin
Code
git clone https://github.com/omnicoinsource/Omnicoin.git omc

3) Enter the leveldb directory to perform a fix
Code
cd omc/src/leveldb
chmod +x build_*
make
make libleveldb.a libmemenv.a

4) Possibly successfully build it
Code
make -f makefile.unix USE_UPNP=-
strip ./OmniCoind
sudo cp ./OmniCoind /usr/bin/OmniCoind

Yay.

Why do we need to compile this? Don't get it.

* - Mohatu - Apr 10, 2014

Adding to this, these instructions are for *nix only.

I'll post a tutorial for OSX shortly.

This is for Debian/Ubuntu. If you plan on running a pool or exchange you need OmniCoind.

This is how cough online wallets work. And any other online service for that matter.

Well, that's not what this tutorial is for.

OmniCoind is different from QT.

Yea, hints the link I added, you also need libssl, and may need to restart in order to free up memory.

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install python-software-properties screen git python-rrdtool python-pygame python-scipy

sudo apt-get install python-twisted python-twisted-web python-imaging build-essential libglib2.0-dev libglibmm-2.4-dev

sudo apt-get install python-dev libboost-all-dev libdb++-dev autoconf automake ncurses-dev

Including:
sudo apt-get install libssl (something like that)
sudo apt-get install libboost-all-dev
and
sudo apt-get install boost-devel
Oh and if anyone has problems with it killing itself use this python script I made:
(E.g sudo python scriptname.py &)
PHP Code

<?php
while True:

import os
      s
= os.popen("ps -A | grep 'OmniCoind'")
      if(
s.read() == ""): os.system("OmniCoind")

I believe these are the dependencies:
build-essential
libssl-dev
libboost-all-dev
libdb5.1-dev
libdb5.1++-dev
libgtk2.0-dev

apt-get install ntp git build-essential libssl-dev libdb-dev libdb++-dev libboost-all-dev libqrencode-dev
That made it work. Don't think you need qrencode though, that's for QT.
