DATA and BIT keyword in EMU8086 - 0x45 - Apr 13, 2014

What does the DATA and BIT keyword do in EMU8086 ?

eg:)

SECS DATA 23h
BIT_0 BIT FLAGS.0

Does it assemble, or does it throw an error?

My suspicion is that FLAGS is a DWORD, and that .0 refers to bit zero.

Can't help you much because I use "real" assemblers (Masm, JWasm) but in any case it would be more helpful if you posted a complete hello world example with these keywords.

It assembles. The code is for interfacing some LCD display with 8086 for alarm clock.

The full code is really long I cant post it here.

That is only about 1/4th of code. Check?

I've looked at your code, and things like mov eax/mov ax/mov al seem to be absent. Are you sure it's x86 code?

This to me is looking like 8051/52 instruction set rather than 8086.

The code is for some microcontroller I dont know of. It is not of 8086, but they said they used EMU8086
