Network speed - brandon12640 - Apr 13, 2014 I have been downloading something for awhile now, and I realized when I check all the users on the network and how much is being used I am the only one on, yet I am only using 20% of the network. Why is that so? Why isn't it higher? * - Xycon - Apr 13, 2014 Network speed = cable maximum speed (the one connected to the back of your system), usually 100Mbit in some cases a 1000. And I doubt you have an 100Mbit connection, if you got an 20Mbit connection you will only use 20% of the network max, usually even less due to distance latency ect. It can be different, router limitations or whatever but I highly doubt any of that comes into play here. * - brandon12640 - Apr 13, 2014 (Apr 13, 2014 08:37 PM)Xycon Wrote: network speed = cable maximum speed (the one connected to the back of your system), usualy 100mbit in some cases a 1000 Ohhhh so it isn't out of YOUR internet speed, it is out of 100mbytes? I figured it was out of your internet speed. Thanks * - Xycon - Apr 13, 2014 It is indeed not your internet speed, its the speed capabilities of what your cable/router/modem can handle max. If router can handle 1000Mbit, cable can handle 100, then the max would still be 100, and on a 20Mbit connection, that would be 20% network usage. * - Z5T1 - Apr 15, 2014 Additionally, your download speed can be limited by the bandwidth available to the server you're trying to download from. |
