[TUT] Put an image inside of text. Step by step w/ pictures & outcome. - -Tyler - Apr 27, 2014

I have seen quite a bit of people asking for images about this, or how to do this, so I decided to make a tutorial myself including examples for each step.

1) Get the picture you want inside the text. I'll be using something I found off google images, which I thought looked pretty cool. :)

2) You're going to need to duplicate that layer.

3) Put a new blank layer in between those 2 layers.

4) Fill in that new blank layer. Do that by clicking Edit up in the toolbar (or hit Shift + F5), then selecting Fill. Have it to these settings:

5) Click the top layer and create new text. Use any font. Make sure the color is white. Once you have done so, press CTRL + T and drag out the image to the size you want.

6) Drag the text layer below the top layer. Your layers should look like this now:

7) On the top layer (image you want inside the text), right click and select Create Clipping Mask.

8) Now that you have what you want, you can feel free to delete/change visibility of the last 2 layers.

9) Now that you're done, you should get your finished product. Here's mine (the example):

Side note: I'd recommend adding a drop shadow to whatever you do this to, it makes it look a lot better in my opinion. You should try it out once you do this.

One of the simpler effects in Photoshop, but still manages to confuse some people.
Thanks for the tutorial, the other ones I have seen on this exact topic seem to have sunk in to the void.

I already knew this but was checking out the new threads.
Good work, But you might want to add some pictures showing the picture in progress so people can know if they are doing it right what to look for?
I dunno maybe not but In my opinion that helps to see progress in a tutorial and the out come right there so you know what your doing.
