Lowercase Digits in JTR? [help me] - ๖ۣۜRacer C'mon! - May 5, 2014 So, with John it tries about a million pass/sec on my computer trying to crack a Standard DES. So I run it in "incremental" mode because it's the best :3 So incremental mode tries the password with all kinds of different stuff like symbols, capitals here and there, and all that. So I want John to run incremental mode but only try lowercase letters and digits. AND YES, I have checked out google, and the OpenWall website. On THIS site it says the mode for lowercase-digits is Quote:-i=lowernumBut when I run Quote:./john -i=lowernum mypassword.pwdI get the error Quote:Unknown incremental mode: LowerNum So how do I run incremental mode with only lowercase and digits? And is it possible to run Lowercase-Digits with also Capital as the first letter only? Read: Quote:Some of the many .chr files needed by these pre-defined incremental modes might not be bundled with every version of John the Ripper, being available as a separate download. You could either try download the community / jumbo versions and look for that specific .chr file. Personally I would just use oclHashcat because it's far easier. With oclHashcat you can do the following: Code oclHashcat64.exe -a 3 -m 1500 -o "output.txt" --outfile-format=3 --remove -1 ?l?u -i --increment-min=1 --increment-max=13 "hashfile.txt" ?1?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?lThis would go through through the full brute force of 13 characters (although in reality it's not likely that you would do this as it would take too long). It would also capitalise the first letter or use lowercase as well. * - ๖ۣۜRacer C'mon! - May 5, 2014 (May 5, 2014 02:17 PM)Forezza Wrote: It's possible that your JTR doesn't have the right .chr files (charset files) which will allow you to use that mode. Any thing that can crack Traditional DES Encryptions fast ;) * - Forezza - May 5, 2014 (May 5, 2014 02:29 PM)๖ۣۜDraconem Wrote: Im quite sure hashcat can't crack Standard DES though :/ Pretty sure it can. Hash mode 1500 in hashcat does descrypt, DES(UNIX), and Traditional DES. * - ๖ۣۜRacer C'mon! - May 6, 2014 (May 5, 2014 03:16 PM)Forezza Wrote: Pretty sure it can.
