[TUT] How to make the perfect tutorial - Vent - May 14, 2014

Hey, Hackforums!
Have you ever wondered what it takes to make a tutorial?
Do you have something that you want to tell the world, but you don't know how to tell them?
If so, keep reading!.

Before you even consider burying yourself into a sweet textload of tutorial writing, you have to know that graphics are key to making a tutorial that looks High Quality. If you don't have graphics, who would want to look at your tutorial? Some people might say that you should sprinkle on graphics, like a small amount of Parmesan onto a delicious Italian delicacy. I say screw that noise! Put so many graphics in your tutorial that it looks like you're applying to Fly By Night! If you don't know how to make graphics, hire somebody like the smart businessman you are! Your tutorial represents you, and if it doesn't look pretty, you're basically advertising to everybody that you're ugly. And I promise that you are beautiful.
And I know what you're about to ask me.
"Vent! What about Thread Designs?"
Let me tell you a little something about Thread Designs.
They're a gift from the heavens. If you can get your hands on a good thread design, use that shit. But make sure that it is as jam packed with information (and, even more importantly, graphics) as possible. I don't use Thread Designs because I'm a hipster, but if you can, you should.

This leads us to the second step...

Make the reader feel fantastic about themselves. It doesn't matter if you're giving them a tutorial on how to brush their teeth or how to set up a RAT, you need to make them feel like they're capable of anything. If they're not confident in themselves, they'll just read your tutorial and proceed to not put your advice into application. You want them to try your tutorial out! That's the main goal, after all. So kiss ass like you're starring in a porn!
This can also help you earn vouches, which I'll touch on later.
And, this brings us to the next step...

Emphasize fucking everything. Bold and italicize at least one string of words every couple of sentences. It doesn't matter how important that phrase is, just emphasize it. It makes people see it and say "Hey! That guy knows how to emphasize. I should follow his directions!" and that's exactly what you want. Also, it looks radical.
And now, we are at the final, and arguably most important step...

You have to be verbose, my friend. What's that mean? Basically, if you can say something in one sentence, take four to say it instead. This way, it artificially increases the length of your tutorial without you having to actually put any content in! Being verbose is one of the best ways to make a popular tutorial. The length of your tutorial almost always corresponds directly to the amount of traction that your tutorial may possibly receive! Another way to artificially increase the length of your tutorial is to say the same thing over and over in different ways!
