Windows failed to start after fde - Year - May 15, 2014 I fully encrypted my ssd today using Disk Cryptor, and when i rebooted i got this error. "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. Status: 0xc000000f Info: the boot selection failed because a required device is innaccesible." I can still access my Bios but am lost. * - Remote Administration - May 15, 2014 1. Use another PC to decrypt via connecting USB cable. 2. Re-install Windows. 3. Restore the master boot records. (PM if you need help with this.) Simplest: 5. Try running a startup repair. 6. Trying using the System restore by accessing the boot menu (keep pressing F8 before it boots) * - Homunculus - May 16, 2014 ensure to check any infections and also click on start button and type msconfig, then go to your startup programs n remove some of them. * - Year - May 17, 2014 (May 15, 2014 10:12 PM)Dustin9099 Wrote: 1. And im guessing im going to lose all my data, right? :( * - crazyycast13 - May 18, 2014 Well, looks like you encrypted your drive wrong (I think). You might want to boot off of another device and then decrypt your SSD and then recrypt making sure that it is still bootable. * - Year - May 19, 2014 (May 18, 2014 06:00 AM)crazyycast13 Wrote: Well, looks like you encrypted your drive wrong (I think). What Windows version are you running? * - Year - May 19, 2014 (May 19, 2014 04:15 AM)crazyycast13 Wrote: Wait don't do anything yet. Windows 7 ultimate, just upgraded from home premium hours before lol. I posted this same scenario in the troubleshooting section of disk cryptor forum. * - crazyycast13 - May 19, 2014 (May 19, 2014 12:00 PM)Thousands Wrote: Windows 7 ultimate, just upgraded from home premium hours before lol. Found your problem(I think). The 0xc000000f error usually occurs after Windows gets an upgrade or when it updates. The main Windows forum will probably be your best be to fix your computer. However, because you just fde'd the SSD I'm going to check with someone else before suggesting to follow the regular instructions to fix this error. * - Year - May 19, 2014 (May 19, 2014 12:52 PM)crazyycast13 Wrote: Found your problem(I think). So, I have a bad feeling you didn't do this, but did you ever create a bootable Windows CD ->https://diskcryptor.net/w/index.php?title=LiveCD? If you didn't are you 100% sure that you encrypted the whole drive. If so, we could boot off of a Linux live CD, have it run an AES decryption algo on your HDD, and then be back to square one (you have your data but no encrypted drive). Also, would you happen to have a second HDD or SSD? That way you could raid 1 your current data, try something to fix your computer, and if it doesn't work reload the old data and try again. * - Year - May 19, 2014 (May 19, 2014 09:19 PM)crazyycast13 Wrote: So, I have a bad feeling you didn't do this, but did you ever create a bootable Windows CD ->https://diskcryptor.net/w/index.php?title=LiveCD? No, i didnt make the bootable CD, i do have another computer i can use to make one though. And yes, my SSD has my OS on it but i do have another drive used for storage. * - crazyycast13 - May 20, 2014 I have a project to work on, I'll tell you what you need to do later tonight. * - Year - May 20, 2014 (May 20, 2014 02:56 PM)crazyycast13 Wrote: I have a project to work on, I'll tell you what you need to do later tonight.
