Can i upgrade my paypal account to business account if i don't own a business? - Mello - May 19, 2014

Do you guys use business or premier accounts?
Is using business account the only way to hide your real name in transactions?
Can i upgrade to business acc without having a business? And if so, are there any risks?

No, they'll probably ask you for business information and paperwork.

Really? I made my paypal to a business account with little to nothing.

They didn't ask me anything when I made my business verified account.

Give it time. Once you gather sufficient funds, they will limit you and ask for info.

I can confirm. I just got mine suspended today after owning a biz account for two years. Whoops!

You can, just consider yourself a sole proprietor and give them your information accordingly. I've had my paypal run as a business account for over 3 years.

So should i not do it? Please help me. I can't afford to get myself suspended like that especially after receiving a large sum of money

This is the right answer. Aslong as your info is legit you will be fine. 🤝

I can verify this. Mine got suspended today. Had to send them 26 different forms of proof of my business.

Depends what you mean by legit ._. My personal info will be correct but obviously my business info will be "made up". I mean the phone numbers, address will be real. Everything will be as legit as it can be except for the fact that i don't own a business. Can you give me some advices etc T_T

And there's people saying they got their accounts suspended. Kinda scares me. Help ; - ;
Also, what should i put as my predicted income/outcome?

When you upgrade to a business account it will ask you what type of business you are. Select 'sole proprietor' and you'll be fine.

* - Krew - May 20, 2014

You can freely upgrade your account to business if you use it for business purposes.

* - Mello - May 20, 2014

Thank you for replying everyone ; - ; I will choose sole proprietor.

Does the type of business matter?

I've been limited on my business account but I work alone in digital goods and sometimes physical goods on eBay. I've never had issues.
