Question in the title. I am a total beginner and I don't know how to go about it, I was thinking brute force but as I looked into it more closely it would take forever to crack just one password.
Any sugestions are welcome.

Can you explain further? Have you already got the passwords but they are MD5 ecrypted, or are you wanting to find them in the websites database?

Just combine every username with a top 100 most used password, you might get very lucky or not at all.

I just have the usernames, no passwords. I doubt that people who own these sites use common passwords, because some of these sites are worth thousands.

Use sentry mba, you can bruteforce hundreds of thousands.
