snapr v2 - an imgur based screenshot and upload utility - Bicycles - May 28, 2014
Hello everyone, this is my first utility in over three years so bear with me. I'm quite rusty but I was able to code this in about two hours today.
It's a screenshot (snap) and image upload tool that uses the imgur.com API. You can take fullscreen snaps (https://i.imgur.com/SOspBiD.png) or just area snaps (you pick the area by dragging the mouse over the area you want to capture) https://i.imgur.com/2U66rkz.png
It's called: snapr.
Unobtrusive design:
It's designed to be minimally invasive, and does not collect any data other than your snaps nor communicate with any servers other than imgur. It is found in your notifications tray, and its only way of communication is through small, inconspicuous alerts whenever you take a snap.
You'll forget about it - until you need it.
It uses efficient, closely spaced hotkeys:
alt+z takes a fullscreen snap, uploads it to imgur, copies the direct link to clipboard
alt+x starts the area selector: simply drag your mouse while left clicking. snapr uploads the area you select and copies the direct link to clipboard
It contains a image uploader:
Simply right click on the icon in your notification tray and you'll be presented with an option to upload an existing image from your computer. With a beautiful theme from @Haze., this is the easiest way to upload a file to imgur. https://i.imgur.com/lM1EvgM.png
I would appreciate any feedback you have on this, whether constructive or positive. I would prefer a mix of both.

Get this software while you can! It's amazing, works perfectly as it's supposed to. I always hate manually opening up the Snipping Tool on Windows. Here I can just press ALT+X and select the area I want to take a image of, and then it directly uploads it to imgur. Take 5-10 seconds to select and area, upload to imgur and have the link in your clipboard! I highly recommend you getting it right now.

I see Imgur uploads quiet a lot, and i must say this is one of the fastest i have experienced, nice work! Keep it up, and what is your Imgur api Limit, because if this is going to be used by at least 100 + people, you need a Unlimited Imgur api.

Thanks! and I will request a whitelisted application api key whenever/if ever this gains popularity.

That's just the imgur api in general. I'm not sure there's a way around that.

You get a vouch for me, i fucking love this.
It even copies the direct link to the picture, almost perfect HF.
Add the option of including [IMG] tags the the link and this is the best image capturer I've used.
Also, will the source code be available i would love to check it out.

And of course not, I cited everyone in the Credits option on the program.
Alright. I updated this to fix several bugs (mostly with area snapr tool).
I also added a preferences page with the ability to add snapr to startup, remove from startup, and an option to include [IMG] tags in the clipboard per request.

Is it possible for you to set the key to PrntScrn?
That is how most tools like this work, and it is a bit easier.

I'll add in the next version: Update from dropbox button.
It will also automatically download recent virus scans before you update, along with important information like md5 checksum and sha1/256.
Also in the next version: more bugfixes, and ability to set hotkey.
