Think I'm going to stay back? Freshman year. - Nerd³ - Jun 8, 2014 Hi guys, school ends on the 23rd, and I think I am slacking. I am really really nervous, I think I might stay back. Grades: (For this current quarter) English - 71 Algebra - 52 History - 68 Student Leadership - 98 Science - 70 Physical Education - 86 Health - 85 Do you think I will stay back? or have summer school? I am trying to up my grades in the last quarter before school ends. I am in a technical high school, so we get half academics and half shop. So long story short, I have less than 11 days to get my grades up. Attendance: (Throughout this whole freshman school year) Absences: 0 Tardies: 0 Believe it or not...I suffer, no matter what it is. I never get to stay home ;( * - iΜirXa™ - Jun 8, 2014 ou wont have to stay back. But you'll probably go to summer school with that 52. How were your grades in that subject other semesters? Can you paste all of your semester grades * - Nerd³ - Jun 8, 2014 (Jun 8, 2014 07:12 PM)Paradox˙ Wrote: ou wont have to stay back. But you'll probably go to summer school with that 52. I will PM you a gyazo picture of all of them. * - dot45 - Jun 8, 2014 Looks like you just need either a math tutor or a teacher that uses a different style. I'd do summer school for both the math class and history if you can, Starting with a high GPA is much easier then raising a low one. * - Pikаchu - Jun 8, 2014 I don't think summer school is mandatory, atleast not in Ontario, Canada. * - νοεῖν - Jun 8, 2014 What I will say below is based entirely on experience in an American educational curriculum, so be wary. First, you can't determine if you'll stay back or not with your grades in a certain quarter, the entire years average must be taken into consideration as that is what it truly relies on. For each class, add each grade and divide it with the quarters that have passed since the beginning of the year (in your case, add the three grades for each quarter for a class, and divide it by three). Once you have done so, any class grade under a 60 means failed, but since it isn't the end of the year yet, it does not necessarily mean you have failed as long as you pull it together. To advance to the next grade, you must accumulate a certain amount of credits. Each class depending on it's necessity has a given amount of credits. Important classes such as Algebra, Biology, English and such are worth 5 credits; as for PE, Art, etc. are only worth between 1.5 - 2.5. Summer school is not mandatory but is recommended only to those who must pass one certain class to advance to the next grade. If you fail Algebra but accumulate enough credits to go to the next grade, you'll just go on and take Algebra again next year. The amount of credits needed in Canada to go from a Freshman to a Sophomore depends on your school. Best of luck. * - ๖ۣۜAmazing - Jun 8, 2014 Fuck yea take pride in that leadership grade, just dont look at the rest only look at that grade and i too just finished freshman year. * - ProxNasman - Jun 8, 2014 Summer school isn't mandatory here in the Pacific, you either have a choice to go to adult school or summer school, you'll have to make up that credit though. * - Nerd³ - Jun 8, 2014 (Jun 8, 2014 07:52 PM)ZanyWing Wrote: Holy shit man I am a freshmen too, I can't believe you are already in 3PIC. Anyways good job on that, however you should really put school first and HF second. I honestly do, I am worrying about school and life a lot more than just HF. I am trying to pay attention and catch up with life stuff, but school is my #1 concern. * - νοεῖν - Jun 8, 2014 Here are your averages: English I: 67.65 = D Algebra I: 64 = D Global Studies: 72.5 = C Student Leadership: 89.5 = B Foundations: 65.25 = D P.E: 84.25 = B Health I: 88.25 = B I've also took the pleasure of calculating your GPA (Grade Point Average) which resulted in an exact 2.00 (just this year alone). Out of the data I was able to conclude above with the information you gave me, I can conclude the following:
* - Justin Timberlake - Jun 8, 2014 How do you get a B in physical education/health? * - Pikаchu - Jun 8, 2014 (Jun 8, 2014 07:51 PM)T.A.R.D.I.S Wrote: What I will say below is based entirely on experience in an American educational curriculum, so be wary. I'm just going to clarify the last part of your post, the amount of credits needed is either 28 or 32, I can't remember which specifically but it's one of those 2. * - Respect - Jun 8, 2014 I don't think you have much to worry about. Put extra effort into Algebra to try and bring your mark up and you'll be fine. * - dr3wb - Jun 8, 2014 Maybe some summer school for that algebra, but I don't think they will hold you back. Does your school district offer online classes through nearby Uni's? I really don't think you're getting held back, so don't stress. * - Nerd³ - Jun 9, 2014 (Jun 8, 2014 09:16 PM)Justin Timberlake Wrote: How do you get a B in physical education/health? Health, sometimes I just don't hand in work. PE, if you get changed, then you got a 100. Sometimes my gym clothes are being washed, or I forgot them. |
