When an account is closed, banned, exiled or any of that good stuff. I think the username they had should become available again. There is a username I really want but its taken by an account that was banned and there last post was in 2011.

Why is omni such a hardass sometimes. Its such a easy thing to do and it makes sense.

How does it make sense? So someone can make their new username 'Acroz' and then you can no longer find the posts from the legit Acroz?

Already talked to him about this. If the account had any posts, it will stay forever. If the account doesn't have any posts, it will be deleted after 6 months.

Sometimes the accounts do get pruned after a while. That's how I got Cloudy. It was a closed account and then the closed account was pruned and the name was available. I guess that's your only hope unless you use an invisible character.

So if we have a member called Steve, who sticks around for a while becomes respected but then goes on a long ass scamming rampage and gets closed, 6 months down the line we have a new "Steve" who could cause a whole tonne of confusion.
What if Steve made some really good, stickied threads before he scammed? Do the they get deleted? How do we recognize that Steve made these threads?
Add a . or a , to the end of the name and you'll usually get the one you want.

There's a few reasons why this won't work.
1. If a member is inactive for more than 1 year he will get closed account, when the member comes back after 2 years and ask Omni to activate his account again his name would be gone?
2. This would not work with banned accounts as OP wants. Members can be temporarily banned, what happens when they come back and their name is taken?
I agree that this could work but only on closed accounts that been closed for other reasons than inactivity. The rest you can read in "Muuuzzy's" post above.

I agree it should be done, but there a lot lf issues and wall fucks that come along with this.
