[In Search Of] 18 + Animes [Philosophical/Gorey/Dark] - hashlist - Jun 21, 2014
To begin, yes I've taken time on several occasions to use "anime search engines" of all sorts, as well as asked some of my friends for their opinions.
I began watching anime around 6-7 months ago, then took a 2 month hiatus. I'm now back at it again and have been watching around 3 episodes a day.
I'm currently looking for animes that are basically 18 +, but they cannot be hentai. I'm in search of animes that contain the following:
- Have darkness to it
- Philosophical (most animes do have some sort of philosophy behind it)
- preferably short (can be lengthy if it's THAT good)
- creepy antagonist/protagonist
- blood (decent amount, but nothing absurd)
I'm not looking for any animes like corpse party or elfen lied, looking for some like Fate/Zero, Attack on Titan, Deadman Wonderland, Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin, etc.
Suggest! I'll take a look at everything so don't be scared to share your favourites :)

It sounds like you'd LOVE Another. it's by far my favorite anime and has everything you're looking for. also check out Corpse Party: A Tortured Soul. Definately watch Another though. you'd really like it.
Edit: As posted below me, Mirai Nikki(Future Diary in english) Is a great one to check out. I loved it.

Pretty sure Code Geass isn't an 18+ anime but you should still check it out if you haven't.
I fucking loved Code Geass. The plot is crazy. Decent amount of blood.
Or maybe Death Note, that's pretty dark.
EDIT: Mirai Nikki. That shit is dark and gory.

As I said I'm not interested in corpse party, I don't think I'de like Another - might be a bit too dark for me.
Mirai Nikki might be put on my list to watch though.

BTOOOM! Is pretty dark and gory if that's what you're searching for. Basically it's the "Hunger Games" but they all have bombs for weapons.
