use Spigot. replace your craftbukkit with the Spigot jar. It's /much/ faster, and has a built-in XRay plus many more config options.
what type of server are you looking to set up, as i've ran servers in the past I could help you.

Will spiggot work with the plugins used on mcmyadmin? and really just a lounge sever/creative faction. craftersrefuge is a good example

it definitely should. for factions:
ObsidianDestroyer
NoCheatPlus (NOT AntiCheat, it's buggy and overall sucks)
Factions (obviously)
McMMo (only if you plan on doing a lot of tweaking so it doesnt get really OP. cap all combat skills to something low is what I'd do)
Set up Buycraft of course
I'd use GroupManager for permissions
AutoBroadcaster or some auto-broadcasting plugin
Some type of voting plugin

What about for essentials? Does it work for that to?

of course it does. it works for pretty much everything. haven't come across a plugin it doesnt work with
