Python 2.7 has not been forgotten - ѕнα∂σω - Jul 3, 2014

Just found this on Reddit. Nothing to interesting or great, but it's nice to see that 2.7 has not been forgotten.

They need to keep 2.7 updated, they fucked python up int 3 for no reason, and now so many modules don't work.

Can't say that Python was fucked up in 3. It's actually an improvement. As soon as the majority of packages migrate to Python 3, I'll switch.

What version of Python should a beginner like me use?

The one you want, currently both version have a decent amount of tutorials & courses related to them.

@op I really thought they were done with any kind of developpement on the 2.x.x version, happy I was wrong.

Personally I prefer 2.7 over 3.3

But it's mainly because that's just what I'm used to.

Python 2.7 is still widely used. A bugfix release is not that impressive.

2.7 is still used and supported but in truth everything is being ported to 3.3. There are some minor changes to the code but eventually things will be fluid enough and people will get it and switch to 3.3 just like it took years for people to switch from C to C++. If your interested in programming learn 3.3 since that will become the standard in the not so distant future, imo.
