I'm not very familiar with Anime but I'd say...Morbito, Guardian of the Spirit or Cowboy Bepop's.
The Cowboy Bepop's is very funny.
Naturo is a pretty good choice too.

@OP, try some Miyazaki. Reason hes so popular is because he appeals to the western world. Stuff like My Neighbor Totoro or Spirited Away. Otherwise theres stuff like Summer Wars, The Girl Who Lept Through Time etc. which are also cheap in HMV and super popular over here.
