I'm going to get IM3 as soon as I get $25 but I have a question, is HWID locked, I have 2 computers and I would like to have it on both.

It is HWID locked, you'd have to ask Shockwave what the computer limit is (Netseal has it changeable)

you can only use IM4 for one computer.

im running my clients on a vm and its awesome. since i game on my pc i need all the performance i can get out my pc.

You already got your answer, but a point of note, to avoid everyone getting all locked out when Shock goes on vacation the HWIDs reset daily or some shit he mentioned to me.
But yea 1 machine (controller) per license in general.
