Current web project [WIP] - Bergstad - Jul 22, 2014

Hey guys, I am currently in the middle of a web project with a partner. This is my current homepage design. Keep in mind it's a work in progress, I just started this specific design today. I am still tweaking it constantly.

Currently I am messing around with different styles for the caption title/caption on the 3 column photos. I have changed it about 4 times the past hour. I am trying to keep it simple and clean, I don't want it to get too cluster fucked. So please tell me what you guys think so far.

Please note these are filler images, I have no plans on using them for the actual site.

And I just noticed that my caption bg's are off by a few pixels. This is now fixed.

I don't think you should lower the opacity on the "Start your journey" button, the rest seems nice. Was about to mention the alignment of the three sections but you picked that up yourself.

Yeah the button looks much better with no opacity. Anyone else have any feedback?

I think you and LightBlue summed up the corrections to make. One thing I would suggest is adding a Tilda to the “Sign Up Login” section so that is looks like >
Sign Up | Login

See how that works for you. There are clearly defined divisions between everything else, would just please the aesthetics in my opinion if you gave this a try.

From there, my only suggestions would be UX related. Are you going to be building this or is it just living life as a .PSD? I think this would look really nice if the “Start your Journey” call to action had a subtle bounce or size change on hover, and your three column content had some javascript animation to call/bring/scroll up the dark caption areas to reveal some additional content about the pages they link to.

Anyway... I like this a LOT. Very minimal, nice and flat, and generally good composition. I’d love to see this built if you ever go that far OP. :D

Yes I will be building a fully working version, it's for a travel site that I am leading. I was thinking using javascript for the button and 3 columns to do animations like what you are saying. I would be glad to give you a link once we get it up and running. Just it may be a while as we are doing the whole thing from scratch and using no framework like bootstrap etc.
