Laptop suddenly shutsdown in normal mode - IT-Manager - Aug 6, 2014 Hey guys, I have got a problem; My Lenovo Y500 suddenly shutsdown and after that I need to remove the battery and the power, press the powerbutton a few times and than it starts working again. When I boot up Windows in normal mode, the same thing happens again, but when I boot it up in safe mode it is working. I have never experienced this before and I do not have alot of time to figure this out because I am on a vacation to Hungary with the most shittiest internet ever, so if someone could google this for me or if someone knows what is going on from experience that would be great. I think that the HDD broke down, malware or that my Windows is corrupt because when I do a refresh I can use normal mode for a few minutes again. but on the otherside the malware should be gone after a refresh. I am doing a hdd checkup at the moment and I will try to buy an HDD somewhere if the hdd broke down. so uhm thanks guys. * - Hunting Rifle - Aug 6, 2014 An IT-Manager should be able to fix that. But if the HDD was 'broken' you wouldn't be able to boot into safe mode either. * - Aura - Aug 6, 2014 Try disabling the automatic restart on power failure : http://pcsupport.about.com/od/tipstricks/f/automatic-restart.htm * - IT-Manager - Aug 6, 2014 If it is not the HDD I will reinstall windows and backup the stuff I need. If anyone have some other suggestions that would be great. ps. The laptop is about 11 months old, still have more than one year warranty. Already did a complete check for malware and the laptop is almost dustfree. * - Aura - Aug 6, 2014 (Aug 6, 2014 05:50 AM)IT-Manager Wrote: If it is not the HDD I will reinstall windows and backup the stuff I need. I posted just before you with a fix you can try. * - IT-Manager - Aug 6, 2014 @Aura already tried that yesterday, but brb I will try it again. @Hunting rife, as I have stated, I do not have alot of time because I am on vacation and my uncle died yesterday ( Didn't stated the last thing tho). I am going to restart my laptop now to normal mode. * - Aura - Aug 6, 2014 (Aug 6, 2014 05:53 AM)IT-Manager Wrote: @Aura already tried that yesterday, but brb I will try it again. Alright let us known how it goes. You could try configuring a clean boot also if it doesn't work. * - IT-Manager - Aug 6, 2014 Windows boots, It did before but than it suddenly freezes within 30 seconds and now it doesn't. I have did what Aura said and disabled a few programs from starting up I've recently installed. But my laptop is getting quite hot (graphic card and hdd) and it is doing olmost nothing just browsing the web. The S.M.A.R.T. hdd test outcome is not really good. I will let the laptop run for an hour or so and see what happens. thanks for helping, if anyone knows why it happend that would be great. Yes I have done it through msconfig ( The clean boot part). working like a charm now, just a bit hot. * - Aura - Aug 6, 2014 (Aug 6, 2014 06:08 AM)IT-Manager Wrote: Windows boots, It did before but than it suddenly freezes within 30 seconds and now it doesn't. Looks like massive hardware failure from what you're telling me. If it's still on warranty I would exchange it as soon as I get back home. * - IT-Manager - Aug 6, 2014 yes, it is also beeping when restarting now and it still got warranty on it. I am going to bring it to the seller as soon as I get home. * - Aura - Aug 6, 2014 (Aug 6, 2014 07:21 AM)IT-Manager Wrote: yes, it is also beeping when restarting now and it still got warranty on it. The beeping just confirms it haha. It's a nice laptop, hopefully you'll get a new one soon. * - IT-Manager - Aug 6, 2014 Yeah, going to backup everything just in case they will give me a complete new one or wipe my hdd. * - Aura - Aug 6, 2014 (Aug 6, 2014 07:27 AM)IT-Manager Wrote: Yeah, going to backup everything just in case they will give me a complete new one or wipe my hdd. I would say to back up everything. Better starting fresh with a whole new laptop. |
