MediaCoder Math Solver - Ingenuity - Aug 18, 2014

So, it's been a while...

I thought I'd release this little app which I made to solve a minor annoyance of mine. As some users here may know, MediaCoder is a great media transcoder, but the free version has a pretty crippling limitation - after every two or three conversions, the end user has to solve a maths problems, effectively meaning that you can't leave it running 24/7 in order to convert your entire media library to a different format/bitrate/whatever. The dialog which MediaCoder shows is as follows:

So, to solve this annoyance, I've written a little app which retrieves the mathematical operation that MediaCoder wants you to perform, finds the answer, puts it in the textbox and clicks the validate button. I'm aware that a very few people will actually use this, but I'll release it anyway.

I don't use MediaCoder, i didn't even know it, but i don't like these kind of apps that cripple you like a pig, so prolly wouldn't even use it.

BUT, if i used it, i'd find your application useful if it really does what you say.
Keep it up, useful things like this help saving the only thing we run out of: time.

Looks cool. Can you upload the source on pastebin, not that I cannot decompile the app, but I'm on phone. And I'm interested how do you read the equation.

This post from nathan retreives the text:

And afterwards you just split them and apply the resultant operation.

Ah ok, I suspected it was like this. I was afraid that he is using some wierd ass screen capturing. OK very cool project. But it asks for an ID. What do yo do about that ?

It either asks you for an ID (in order to permanently upgrade the program) or for you to solve a math problem. It would be terribly inefficient to use screen grabbing and then OCR for a task like this. I use similar code to Nathan's to achieve this; although not a carbon copy. Knowing about his app would have spared me an hour or so, but meh.

Well any program I see doesn't need a "fancy" theme in my opinion
a theme is just some thing extra but takes away the content of the tool as in:
if you use a theme people rather use it if it fits them.
if you use the default/flat theme of VS. /XP template people will use it for it's functionality [my opinion]

I love to see people not using any theme, sometimes/mostly a theme just messes their tools up...

I have used a theme once. I really don't like the fact that people use skidass shitass themes, and they think that it looks pro, even tho you know that it's a 11 y/o that made that.

well ye I assume some themes may look nice but that doesn't change the fact people will "abuse" it.

I rather stick with the default flat UI of VS and like the @OP did with his XP styling.

but this gets a bit too much off-topic, if you want to continue talking about it, please pm me instead.
