Auto-wakes up on hibernate - Ðr1ps - Aug 18, 2014

My computer wakes up itself during hibernate mode. I've disabled all of my devices from waking up the computer but it still happens. Any ideas?

By all your devices, did you also include your Network Controller (Wireless Card) ?

That's right, and it still occurs sadly.

Do you have any external keyboard, mouse, cellphone, other device plugged in ?

If you remove them while the compuer is hibernating, what happens ?

It would power on I guess. I'll try it later today and will let you know.

Open the Command Prompt as a administrator and type Powercfg /LASTWAKE this command reports information about what woke the system from the last sleep transition.

I need to learn more about the powercfg command switches. I know that you can use it to create your own power plans and enable/disable modes, but that's it.

Here's what I got from that command.

Wake History Count - 1
Wake History [0]
Wake Source Count - 0

Also the PC doesn't power up when I unplug a device.

What device did you unplug here ? The mouse, the keyboard ? Or simply a random one ? If so, which one ?

I unplugged both the mouse and the keyboard.

Do you want to do another test with only the mouse or the keyboard and see if it wakes up ? We have to identify which device is waking up the computer.

I'll try it. Is it possible for an application to wake up the computer?

Try the "Powercfg /LASTWAKE" command after Windows wake up from hibernation.
Also open the Event Viewer by typing eventvwr.msc into Search charm and see if there is any logs indicating what cause the Windows wake from hibernation or sleep.
