How to deny certain file extensions from execution. - The Scam Hunter - Aug 25, 2014

Hi,

I want to know if there's any way to deny permission to execute certain file types in Windows? To be specific, I want to stop video files (.avi, .mp4 .flv etc.) from being played.

Wondering if there's any way to do it.

To my knowledge, you can't do that. Why would you want to do that if I may ask ? Also, you could just break their program association with the file extension so they couldn't be played by double-clicking on them (executing them).

I want do this for valid personal reason. And it is important to me. Breaking program association won't help. Program can be easily associated with video files again or other program would able to execute the video files. Thanks for your suggestion though.

Any other suggestion guys?

I'm pretty sure this isn't possible, and breaking the program association is probably your best bet.

Well, you could always create an IFEO entry that would apply to video extension files but ... I doubt it will work like you want it to work.
