(Idea Inside) Securing Flash Drive - tumaeka123 - Aug 27, 2014

Hey, hi guys ^_^ it's been a while :3
Anyway...

So my idea is to have 2 partition

The first one is for the storage use
The second is hidden for some other stuff, system files, etc.

I know bitlocker but what i want is something like this:

The user would plug the flash drive but would be unusable until the driver or the software in the partition 2 is installed.

Now when it's installed, it would ask the user for the password. If the password is correct, he can use it or open the drive but when the password is wrong, there would be a pop-up message or anything that would say something like

"Hey please return this flash drive to this owner. Please contact him at: 1234567890"

--------------------------
I got that idea when I lost my flash drive... My files are there, some are important... REALLY important. My resume was also there and I assumed that the person who had it would look around my files. I hoped that he would read it and send it back to me but unfortunately it didn't happen :\ </3

So, is my idea possible? Is it clear enough?

I think i got a little bit confused by your idea but i understand the part where if they inputted the wrong password it would tell the user to return it to its owner and then give them some contact details.

I would like it to have two partition having the second one be the system files and other stuffs so when the flash drive is found by somebody and tried to format it... it's still secured or if possible it can't be formatted.

is that clear now? Is this even possible may i ask?

Bitlocker or TrueCrypt do exactly what you are asking.

Does Bitlocker and Truecrypt offers the error message that I'm asking for?
And I have a Windows 8 64-bit Single language (That's what I saw on the Computer->Properties)

I don't think they do. I haven't saw anything like that within bitlocker and truecrypt.

But that is also what I wanted :( :( :(
Is that possible?
Securing file is not enough for me. Let's say I lost my flash drive and someone found it and can't open it nor format it, of course he'll just throw it away or if it's a bit noob he may think that it's broken that's why I want the error message where my contact details can be

BUMP BUMP BUMP

Is my idea possible guys? To put an error message where my contact details is also if the password entered is wrong? So whenever my Flash Drive got lost again there is a possibilty that the founder can return it back to me.

I wouldn't say that this is not possable, id say that you have some coding to do though 👍
ps. you could even sell this if you programmed it

There is a thing called veracrypt that works on windows 8 and is basically an upgraded truecrypt. Google it!
