Ubuntu with Kali Tools - asm-99 - Sep 28, 2014

Hi guys, what do you think about Ubuntu with Kali Tools?
I'm using Kali as VM but i think it's need more ram and cpu to work faster while cracking or scanning big range of IPs and when you do many things at the same time.

So I decide To install Kali beside my win. But I said to myself I'm not good with Kali how the hell I'll work with it 😁?

So It come to my mind what about Ubuntu with Kali tools?
I have read this thread: http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/145550/why-to-use-kali-linux-instead-of-ubuntu-with-kali-tools

I would just use Kali. Sure you can install the tools on other distros, but there's really no point. I almost never have any performance problems. The only issue is when I'm running OpenVAS. Then it can be a little slow. That takes up a lot of RAM no matter the distro though. Ubuntu is similar enough to Kali. I actually started Linux with BackTrack, even though that wasn't advised.

I would personally just use Kali. Have you tried changing your VM settings to higher CPU/RAM usage ? What are the specs on your PC and which tools do you plan on using ?

How about you just get Kali with Kali tools and either use Ubuntu the way it should or remove it and get something Debian-based like a real man.

Never had any real issues with Kali, besides installing AMD GPU drivers, but who doesn't have problems with that.. damn AMD.. But one could just simple use Kali repos in Ubuntu, but meh like stated above would just be a waste of time.

You could try backbox. It's a pentesting distro based on ubuntu with all the tools already installed. I'm not a fan of ubuntu, but I downloaded and tried it in a VM. It looks pretty nice but I don't really have a lot of experience using it.

You can use whatever you're comfortable with. You'll have to install all the tools manually, which some prefer like me, and some don't.

But yeah, since you're not using it as your everyday computer... Learning Debian (Kali), is just as easy as learning Ubuntu.

I prefer debian to Ubuntu. I prefer most to Ubuntu, even CentOS lol. Itd make more sense to just use Kali , unless you wanna manually install all those tools. If you're having performance issues then allocate more resources to your VM. If you cant spare the resources, get a better rig

Is it only used for testing or are you using it as your main OS like a fool? starts new flame war.....
