Can I record smooth gameplay with my specs? - Рing - Oct 4, 2014

Recently I've been trying to record things like Minecraft and League of Legends but my framerate in game always drops till I am basically unable to play the game when I start. I was pretty sure with these specs I would be able to:

Processor - Intel Core i3-2120 CPU @ 3.30GHz
RAM - 8GB
Graphics Card - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460

Anything else you want to know please reply below.

I've tried recording with software such as Fraps and OBS, both giving me large drops in FPS.

I guess that your CPU and your GPU are a bit too weak to handle the recording. That would be my guess.

If you get more than 30fps whilst recording, that should be fine. But it also depends on your hard drives write speed, if it's too slow the video will look laggy.

I'd recommend Dxtroy because it only drops your fps by a few whilst recording.

I don't see a problem with it, I managed to get 20 FPS whiled recording on my HD Family Graphics. I'm pretty sure the card you have now is better than the one I got. I got a I5 though with 4GB of Ram. I also use Camtasia to record.

Well if it gets to where you can't play anymore. I would say get an i5 and a better GPU.
